McTigue, JohnMr. McTigue teaches AP US History and Social Studies 7. While at City Honors, he has also taught Government, Economics, Global 9 and piloted the IB History of the Americas course. Mr. McTigue received his B.A. and M.A. in History from SUNY Buffalo.Teaching at City Honors since 1997 (minus a two year stint at Akron Central Schools), Mr. McTigue coaches Masterminds, WorldQuest and the Boys and Girls Rugby teams. Under his direction, the WorldQuest and Girls Rugby teams have qualified for and performed admirably in their respective national competitions, finishing as high as 6th and 3rd places, respectively and the Boys Rugby team were NYS Champions in 2005. In 2003, Mr. McTigue started the Richard Hofstadter Competition for Historical Writing and the Richard Hofstadter History Lecture Series in 1997. Throughout his career, Mr. McTigue has worked as an educational consultant for BPS Department of Social Studies. Additionally, he has served as a member of the NYS Grade 8 Social Studies Test Development Committee and as a grader and item writer for the AP US History and US History SAT II exams. In 2004, Mr. McTigue was invited to serve as a member of the IB History of the Americas Curriculum Review Committee and was recently appointed to mark IB History assessments.
